About Footlite Musicals

Who we are

Footlite Musicals is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation founded in 1955. We offer the best of Broadway presenting seven musical productions each year. A new show is on stage about every six weeks beginning in July.

Come early and enjoy our beautiful two-manual, eleven-rank Page Theatre pipe organ, one of only a few left in the United States.

Footlite is conveniently located in downtown Indianapolis at the corner of 19th and Alabama streets in the center of the historic Herron-Morton Place neighborhood. Herron-Morton Place is an historical district in Downtown Indianapolis, dedicated to restoration and renewal. The boundaries of the neighborhood are East 16th Street on the south, East 22nd Street on the north, the alley west of North Pennsylvania on the west, and the alley east of Central Avenue on the east.

Our Mission

Footlite’s mission is to produce musicals and other dramatic offerings and to provide for education and training of persons in the theatre through hands-on experience and classes in the various stages of dramatic and musical theatre.

Footlite needs help of all sorts, and anyone is welcome. The varied activities call for volunteers with interests in sewing, box office, painting and set construction in addition to orchestral and performing talents. We seek your experience, your advice, your participation and your support. Call the box office (317) 926-6630 to be a part of it all.

Our Theater Pipe Organ

Footlite Musicals and the Hedback Theater are fortunate to have the beautiful two-manual, eleven-rank Page Theatre pipe organ, which was built in Lima, Ohio in 1925 for installation in a Fort Wayne mansion. Phil Hedback later purchased the organ and had it installed in its present location. Our organ has been renovated with the addition of six ranks, a toy chest and other interesting features. Members of The American Theatre Organ Society, who now own and maintain it as a historical instrument, play the organ before every performance. Be sure to come early to the performance and enjoy the organ music.

The American Theatre Organ Society (ATOS) is dedicated to the preservation of a unique American art form -- the theatre pipe organ and its music. The membership includes musicians, technicians, and enthusiastic listeners -- all devoted to the preservation and continued enjoyment of what we believe to be a national treasure. Visit the Central Indiana Chapter of ATOS website for more information regarding the history and development of the theater organ.
